Martha and Medecins Sans Frontieres’ Syria appeal
Every year, each Mooncup team member is given a share of the Mooncup funds to donate to a charity of their choice. Martha, one of our Mooncup Advisors, explains her choice here:
Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders) believe that all people have the right to medical care regardless of gender, race, religion, creed or political affiliation, and that the needs of these people outweigh respect for national boundaries. MSF are an independent, neutral and impartial organisation who go where they’re needed; their financial independence means they can act rapidly, without waiting for governments or other institutions to release funds. This reach and independence means they will always try to help the people in greatest need, rather than tailoring their response to the demands of funders, politicians or the media.
I would like for my share of the Mooncup ‘team giving’ pot to go to the MSF Syria appeal to help them bring medical supplies to their staff and hospitals in Syria where hundreds of thousands of people have been killed since the civil war started in 2011.
