The menstrual cup - A healthy alternative to tampons

"Hi Su,

The Mooncup is a revolution! I saw a sticker on a loo
door at Glastonbury Festival and made myself remember
the name to look up on the net when I got back to
London. And I'm so glad i did!

"The Mooncup is SO easy to use and you dont even know
its there as its so comfortable! The only concern I
had was using it in public loos, as you have to make
sure you dont spill it... but it was fine.

"I now feel like having my periods is an achievement
rather than a hasstle! It got me thinking how much
money companys could save not having to worry about
sanitary disposal units. In a perfect world all we
need is a little sink at the side to wash our little
mooncup in when we go to the loo!

Thanks so much! I recommend it to every woman! :)"

Leona

"The mooncup is absolutely amazing. I have an allergy to rubber and tampons give me thrush, and the mooncup is so comfortable that I dont even know that I am on my period!!!
"This product means that I never have to use a bulky sanitary towel ever again!! Please continue to promote this product, so many women don't know what they are missing and if you ever stop producing them please contact me so that I can stock up!!!"

Thanks again
Kellie

"I'm 26 and i've bin using it for 2 months and i LOVE it. i've always had dryness problems with tampons and i always forget to take them out and about with me but the mooncup is fabulous. i had my 2nd period using it on holiday - swimming in the sea and everything! i too can't believe more women don't know about this or think the idea is 'yucky'. i plan to 'spread the mooncup word' far and wide!! thank you so much for selling it."

Best wishes
Lucy

"I first found out about the Mooncup on the internet while researching menstrual practices for an anthropology paper. I ordered one and have been using one (a B and then an A size) for over five years. I think it is great. For all the reasons mentioned in this site, but also because of the different relationship it allows with your menstrual blood. It is no longer ugly, stinky and associated with trash because of it's destination. It's precious and beautiful, bright red and glittering ...and then you decide to discard it. And every time I do, I think that I should instead find a way to turn it into a work of art, some kind of ode to femininity...."

Julie

"I'm using my moon cup for the first time, right now.... and it's great,
it's very comfy and it doesn't appear to leak at all. I've had irregular
periods for years and always had problems with tampon strings (the bleach makes me itch slightly) and hated spending a fortune on natural tampons which are unbleached and I can only get "normal" sized ones in tiny boxes...grrr.
It's such a relief to find something like this, it seems so practical and
so easy to put in (even the very first time). I'm never using anything else again. It makes me angry that other options aren't well known and talked about."

"Have finally resolved to use my mooncup after purchasing it two months ago, I can honestly say it has been a resounding success. The timing was right, as my day off from work coincided with the 1st day of my period, (never good) and I am very pleased with my first attempt at using my cup. It was a big concern to me about having to use public toilet facilities going back to work next day, but so far this has been overcome easily.
"I had never heard of this device until my environmentally conscience work colleague told me about it earlier this year. (There was a shudder of revulsion among us girls in the office thinking - we could never do that!) However two of us resolved that we would give it go! I am so delighted with my first months trial. I wish I had known about this natural method a long time ago. I feel absolutely cheated!! "

Julie

"On the subject of liberating women to experience the bleed as sacred (as opposed to 'the curse'); the site mentions pouring the blood away down the toilet, yet you could also mention that menstrual blood is a highly effective plant food and can be used as an alternative to baby bio - not only helping your plants to grow, but also giving back to the earth what the Goddess has given to us. I realise that this is something that many women feel squeamish about....but it doesn't take much getting used to and it is a way of honouring the bleed- giving back to ourselves what has been taken away by years of misinformation. The time of menstruation is immensely powerful and can be used for meditation, dreamwork and ritual. Yet instead we are taught to treat it as a curse that punishes us for being female..."

Clair

"Having had a week of hell every month for 25 yrs I found the Mooncup by accident last year and I am over the moon! I dont sleep on laid out towels, change my pads in the night, soak my stained clothes, carry around a bag of equipment, I wear what I like and I'm freeeeeeeee, I'm ANGRY that it took so long for me to find it and want to tell the whole world !!! My 3 sons are sick of hearing about it!!!"

Tracie

"I have already got one of your Mooncups (I find it to be wonderful) and I would like to order 3 for my mum and my 2 sisters..."

Alicia

"i've been using my mooncup for more than six months and i strongly recommend it's use. i don't think i"ll ever use anything else again. nor will i need to... they last for years. it's comfortable and very hassle free. i never felt particularly comfortable wearing tampons, but i'm glad i'm no longer in contact with the bleaches they use to keep tampons white, such as dioxins"

Nadia

"The Mooncup is brilliant. I've had it for 7 years and it's still going strong. When I'm wearing it I don't notice it at all. I can do all the things that I would be able to do using other methods and more. I don't end up feeling dry and uncomfortable. It also means I can save the blood for my plants and my paintings. A few of my friends have got one too and they get on with it brilliantly. It took about 3 bleeds to get used to it but since then I've never looked back."

Lyn

"I took to the Mooncup on first use and absolutely love it. It is so much more comfortable and easy to forget. It makes me feel much more in harmony and control of the process. It is really good to know you are not adding to sea pollution, landfill or putting toxins in your body. Hooray, hooray! Forget all the worries about them being weird, disgusting, uncomfortable, expensive etc. they are great and well worth the initial pay out - never look back."

Harriet

"It really works, it's cheap and environmental. I recommend the Mooncup. I think it shortens your period too."

Sarah

"With some trepidation I bought my first mooncup last week and have been using it this weekend. So far, it's great! I am really impressed with it - efficient, and easy to use, though a little tricky to remove in the morning. However, it is light years away from tampons and pads. And I relate to what Julie says about the relationship with menstrual blood."

Liz

"Just thought I would let you know. I have had my mooncup for 3/4? months now and it is wonderful. I had some reservations (being in my 40's and having very heavy periods. But it has been fantastic. I use pads on 2 days as extra security, but other than that it can handle anything. Thanks."

Chris

"I have a serious complaint!! I have had to wait 23 years to find the
Mooncup! It has changed the way I view my menstruation, as I no longer fear where and when I will come on. As a very heavy bleeder I was concerned that I would still have to use sanitary towels, but there was no need to worry!
It truly is amazing, I almost feel as though I am cheating at having my
period! It makes me so cross to think of all the unfortunate Women in the
world who will never learn of the (better) alternatives to tampons. You sit
and read these feedback reports wondering, 'it can't surely be that good,
can it?' Well yes it can! Come on Ladies, you visited this site for a
reason, so trust your instincts and buy the thing! Well done Mooncup.co.uk, I am a very, very, very happy customer!"

Sarah Whitehead

"No more thrush! After several rounds of treatment for vaginal thrush (which always got worse during and just after my period), my doctor recommended that I try to stop using tampons, as they can make thrush worse by absorbing too much moisture. Well, the idea of having to manage with just pads, and probably having to change (pad and stained pants) every hour or more, didn't exactly fill me with joy, so I got a Mooncup a couple of months ago, and since then have had no thrush at all. Hooray! It wasn't the environmental or cost factor that made me buy the Mooncup, but now, as I only need a small pad for a couple of days (just as a "belt and braces" approach), I'm going to make a few reusable sanitary towels, so I'll never need to buy any more sanitary products ever again! Now what can I spend all that saved money on???"

Ruth

"DON,T MELT THE MOONCUP!! I'm very upset. I have just burnt my mooncup having put it on the boil to sterilise and forgotten about it my mooncup has melted. So let this be a warning to othhers and my advice is put the timer on."

Louise Byford

"All i can say is this is very empowering. To be in touch with my biological process and to have control over the products I use in my body. Its soo easy to use and cuts down alot of costs."

claire

"I absolutely LOVE the mooncup. When I first heard about them I was unconvinced until my friend brought me one for my birthday. It was the best present I have ever had. There are so many positive reasons to use a mooncup and absolutely no downsides.....I tell everyone I can about them. They save you money, space in your handbag, the worry of TSS, the environment....the list is endless. Buy one for yourself and all your female friends...."

Karen Moulson

"Excellent - for a pain free (less painful stomach craps!), smell free! (the bit I hated each month!) monthly period choose Mooncup! Once I got the right size (Size A really is needed if you're over 30) I was away! Very happy customer! xx"

Jane

"What a fabulous idea! Why didn't I know about this years ago? I have always hated the dreaded tampons especially with very light periods I was always concernred about using the correct absorbancy. Now I need wory no more and its nice to think I won't be responsible for nasty floating things in the sea too!"

Becks Grigg

"at 50 years old I will soon not menstruate at all but for years I have hated the thought of my towels ending up in landfill. I care for the environment and I care for my body. The mooncup is brilliant. It even coped with my very heavy pre menaupausal periods and I never need to worry if I spend all day visiting friends or driving. No leaks, no smells, no damp 'down below'.I will certainly be recommending it to everyone I know."

pam

"I was so excited when I ordered your mooncup. I have wanted one since I heard about them a couple of years ago. I am only 19 so I was a little bit nervous about being able to put it in and take it out. It took a couple of tries, but I am so amazed at how wonderfully it works! It feels so good not to be sticking gross wads of cotton inside of me anymore! Not to mention how grateful the landfills are! Thank you so much for this fantastic way to embrace being a woman and stop harming our bodies and our planet. I recommend the mooncup to everyone I know!"

Hannah

"I came across an advert for the mooncup in the free Boots magazine and decided to give it a go, mainly through fear regarding TSS. I can honestly say that I am amazed how easy it is (once you get the hang of it) and how clean and natural it makes me feel. I have certainly passed on my opinion to anyone wishing to listen and already my sister is contemplating getting one. It is actually exciting and fun having my period and I have become quite attached to my mooncup. Thanks very much!!!"

Helen

"I came across the Mooncup on a travel website and decided to use it for environmental reasons. At first I still used a liner with it becasue I wasnt 100% confident, then I went off it for a few months now I use it alone with confidence with every period. I've had a hard time convincing some of my more conventional friends to use it but I still tell every girlfriend about it. The purchase was easy and quick and I look forward to seeing them on the shelf in shops in Austrlaia before too long. Thanks Jane"

Jane

"I've been using my Mooncup for nearly 2 years now and I'm more thrilled with it every month! I'm 41 but childfree and happily use a B model without leakage. It took a couple of months to get used to it and find the best way for a leak-free insertion, but now it's so comfortable I forget it's there. It has reduced my cramps, certainly reduced the inconvenience of having a period (as I can put it in before I go to work and take it out when I get home), and reduced my guilt about the amount of rubbish we all produce. I've been encouraging my friends to give it a try. It's a great product."

Alison

"I bought my Mooncup because I wanted to be more environmentally friendly but thought it was going to be a real penance. I've been using mine for six months now, with no problems - definitely the easiest and most women-friendly sanitary protection method I've used and I would not go back to tampons and towels. For any women who think the idea is a bit 'yukky', I would say try it for a month and then I promise you all other methods will seem yukky, but this won't. I travel a lot for work and this is the easiest and cleanest method (also very useful in older buldings when the loo is a bit temperamental, because you're only flushing away a small amount of liquid, so no problem). The only complaint I would make is how come more women don't know about this????? I know you don't have the advertising budget of the companies who have been fleecing us on 'disposable' products, but please push your profile; it is a well designed, money saving environmentally friendly, woman friendly product - what's not to like?"

MaryD

"I saw a sticker for the mooncup on the back of a toilet door and thought 'yuck', but was intrigued and immediately checked it out on the internet. I was still thinking 'yuck', but couldn't resist trying it. I found it in Boots, squeezed into a 2 inch space on the tampon shelf. Trying it for the first time was interesting, getting it in was Ok, but attempting to pull it straight out was a definate mistake, it hurt. But on the second go it was much better - the key is to break the seal then squeeze it down flat and edge it. I've just started using it properly today, and its great. I was intending to just try it for a couple of hours at a time to start with, but it's so comfortable, and working so well I think i'll just carry on. Theres no leaking, I don't have to discreetly rumage in my bag before going to the toilet, and I don't have to wrap tampons up in reems of toilet paper before putting them in the bin, and I don't have to worry about forgetting it. It is a bit difficult, and seems messy at first, but when I think about first using tampons I'd say its about equal on both counts, but with loads of other advantages. What I am most looking forward to is being able to climb during a period. I love climbing, but avoid it once a month as it has all the stretching of yoga (also looking forward to trying it during that) with the addition that you are metres of the ground with a whole room full of people able to look up at your bum! I'm sure other climbers would be interested to hear about this. And swimming, thats just too good to be true (maybe i'll test it out in the bath first, or try it in the pool between periods). How do you get these stickers and leaflets?"

Laura

"La verdad es que estoy encantada..llevo dos ciclos con ella y es muy cómoda. Obviamente hay que tener algunos cuidados para mantener la higiene, pero a mi me resulta más cómoda que los tampones!!! Ni me entero. Desde luego la recomiendo...a no ser que seas demasiado aprensiva...pero es igual que usar tampones sin aplicador o un diafragma!! Anímate!!!"

"I have had my moon cup for 2 years now and love it. It has saved me a fortune. Excellent for any one who likes to travel or who is in the forces (like my friend who uses one too), or anyone who doesnt like the finacial and environmental costs of traditional disposable products! You dont know its there, and stays safe while swimming, running etc. Why doesnt everyone have one???"

Kate

"I am gobsmacked - and angry! Gobsmacked at how easy it is to use the Moon Cup - and angry that I have spent all these years using sanitary towels. I was initially sceptical when I received my Moon Cup, and I expected the first time I used it to be a complicatd procedure. Happily it was dead easy, and I can barely tell the Cup is in place. There are no leaks and the whole thing is utterly straightforward. I am thrilled to bits at having discovered this wonderful Cup. if only more people knew about it - and how easy and practical it is to use."

Eliza Gould

"Wow! After much giggling in the bathroom, I finally got the knack! I've never given feedback on a product, but I'm so impressed with my precious mooncup that I coudn't resist it. I had my first baby six months ago, and have therefore been blissfully period free for just over a year. Now though, periods aren't anywhere near such a chore. None of the drying effects of horrid tampons, no string, and I can use it right to the end of my period when tampons are impossible. Also, no tampons escaping from their paper wrappers at the bottom of your bag and falling all over the table when you're looking for something! If my mooncup jumps out of my bag, I'll be glad to show it off! Don't be chicken, just buy one!"

Emma P

"Its changed my life! i cant imagine living without it.it collects my period like a dream"

judie lubie

"I have been using my mooncup for over a year now and I've never looked back. The benefits are just endless. No more filling the trolley with expensive disposables. No more horrible landfill waste. No more health concerns. No more annoying little string. No more dashing to find a loo when your period starts (can pop it in when period is expected without worrying about soaking yourself dry!). No more pockets full of spares or taking your handbag to the loo. No more leaks. No more period hassle :o) I am just SO impressed with the mooncup, I think everyone should be aware of it. It makes me sad that so few people know about it and when I see people at the checkout with a pile of disposables I want to tell them all about it! I was delighted to see mooncups on the shelves of Boots recently and I hope this is a sign of things to come as awareness of this amazing product increases. An enormous THANK YOU!!"

Lucy

"I can't remember where I first read about the mooncup but since I found your site, I had been dithering about getting one for a long time. I finally got one at Boots last week, and like a lot of women who posted here, I wish I'd discovered it earlier! With a bit of practice it's really easy to use and not messy at all (one of my fears). In fact, I actually find it less messy than a tampon or a towel! And, best of all, (I hope I can say this on your site), no chafing!!! Thank you. I'll definitely help spread the word."

Felicia

"I've been using the Mooncup for about three years now - and cannot sing its praises highly enough! - I have told all my friends about how amazing they are and even brought a whole box of them over to Kenya where I live to give them to friends out here. I just wish more women knew about Mooncups, gave up their preconceptions and tried them out because then they would realise how brilliant they really are. I just think there is no other alternative now. I do alot of long distance trekking and camping and can't bear the thought of going back to a time before I discovered the Mooncup! I hope the word continues to spread far and wide - and hopefully we can start a menstrual revolution! Keep up the good work! Thanks so much..."

Zoe Duby

"Took a bit of getting used to but well worth the effort. Can't praise it enough. I'm sensitive to the normal bleached tampons so was spending a fortune on natural tampons each month - not any more! And it's true - you forget it's there!"

sarah c

"This is my first period using the mooncup and so far it's gone very well. I tried inserting and removing before my period started and found it difficult and a little painful, but it's so much easier now I have my period! Maybe the muscles are more relaxed or something. I do still find removal a little tricky (no doubt I'll get better and better with practice) but not painful anymore. I have found it a lot messier than tampons though - not something that bothers me personally, but it might trouble others. Again, I expect that as my technique improves so will my ability to limit the mess! Things I like about my mooncup: its design (I find it aesthetically pleasing as well as functional!), the logic of collecting the menses up rather than soaking them up, the fact that I'm in total control of its hygiene (sterilising etc), and most of all the fact that I don't have to dispose of icky little 'packages' all the time! I have had a couple of leaks, but even cycling is comfortable and I went swimming too - no problems. I'm looking forward to many years of expert mooncup use. Fiona"

Fiona

"What a revolution for me.This has changed everything regarding my comfort during my period.Thankyou so much!!"

Claire

"Fantastic! All that worry about leakage, that I had with tampons and towels, has gone. And it feels better too. Just what I needed."

Lynn

"I Bought my first menstrual cup several years ago - a different brand from the usa. I got used to it after about two insertions and removals ( empty as a practice ) and after my frist period using it i KNEW i honestly couldnt bare to be without one. So seeing mooncu on the market is fantastic. I have purchased two more and they should see me through my lifetime of periods. The best thing for me - is that as someone who always used to 'leak' when in bed - or when standing up after sitting still for any amount of time - this no longer happensto me. I never leak with the mooncup even on my heaviest days. I RECOMMEND THIS TO EVERYONE I CAN WHENEVER THE SUBJECT COMES UP! : )"

julie

"I have been very surprised by how easy to use and effective the moon cup is. I was a bit concerned that it might be inconvenient to use at work but it proved to be more comfortable AND reliable than using tampons or towels. Also the mooncup has given me the ideal opportunity to help our environment. Many thank Bernadette "

Bernadette

"I am AMAZED!! After coming off the pill after 9yrs (where I purposefully took two packets in a row to avoid my cycle) I was dreading it every month. This is the first time that I have used it for the entire period and thinks it's absolutely wonderful. I will no longer block entire days off in my diary expecting to be drained and in pain!"

Joanna

"When I first heard about the Mooncup I was a bit grossed out to be honest, which my friends find very funny to remind me! And then my friend told me about her experience with the Mooncup which answered a lot of my questions. I’ve always felt a bit guilty with the amount of sanitary rubbish I was throwing away and also felt a bit unclean when using tampons and towels. So I bought one and I’ve never looked back – it is so much better than using conventional towels and tampons that I honestly would never consider using them again. I feel much cleaner when I’m on my period and (although I sound like a bit of a hippy) I feel more in tune with my body. I used it when I went travelling and it was an absolute godsend – there was nothing I couldn’t do and it was easier than using “normal” sanitary wear. When we start our periods we are never given any other options than the standard and so it’s a scary thought to use something else. I was lucky in that I had a friend to answer all my questions and to give me tips (like taking a bottle of water with you when you go to a public loo for rinsing!) that I needed answering before I bought one – and lets face it £17.99 is a lot when you aren’t sure whether it’ll be for you. But no one that I’ve spoken to who has tried the Mooncup goes back, it’s better for the environment, it saves you money (honest, my boyfriend worked it out!), you feel cleaner and fresher and it’s really not that minging - promise. And it probably costs the same as a top from Topshop so you really haven’t got that much to lose! "

Lucy Hopcraft

"I am so happy to have discovered the mooncup. Ive been using it since January (bought it as a chrstmas present to myself!)and I love it. I enjoy my periods more now. I just wish that other women, particularly young girls like me (im 17), would be more open to the idea of alternatives to tampons and pads."

Rhiannon

"I have now used my mooncup for one month and am very pleased with it. I feel so much more healthy and never have to worry about changing a tampon or pad and also never have to worry about forgetting the bring enough stuff. All in all it has been a good experience but it did take a bit of trimming and getting used to. Though now i am comfortable and pleased after deciding to purchase the mooncup."

Maria

"I so wish that I had found Mooncup sooner. It is so liberating not to have to worry about having extra supplies with you. Yes, it did take about two days to really get into using it but now I would never go back to tampons. I'd highly recommend it."

Jane Russ

"Just got one for when I'm travelling round the world later this year - absolutely brilliant!!! No more trudging round everywhere with tampons, or having to keep your used ones with you til you find a bin - ugh! I was worried about using it, and had to try a few 'positions' - but I've totally got the hang of it now. Fantastic - one less thing to worry about when you're lazing your days away on a desert island!!!"

Candy

"After accidentaly coming across a mooncup on e bay and being curious, looking on your web site and then reading all the testimonials, and a trip to Boots i can now join in and say that i've found my mooncup to be everything i hoped it would be and better!i have REALLy heavy periods and the thought of having to drag a whole load of sanitary items to the loo with me past a crowd of school kids did not fill be with pleasure every month!.No more,my mooncup can cope on very heavy days and nights,no need for towels(tho i did at first till i realised i didn't need to).I also find it useful/keep myself in tune with my period to know exactly how much blood i am loosing(gory yes,but also v.interesting!)I live oposite a landfil site and feel pleased that i'm not adding to it."

gina

"I have just got back from skiing. During my holiday I was on my period and wore my mooncup. It was great knowing that I did not have to carry any tampons and I had no fear of leaking and feeling uncomfortable despite not having easy access to a bathroom and exercising hard. I have been using the mooncup for nearly a year now. It took 3 months for my body to get used to it, I seemed to have a heavier night flow but this has settled now. I love the feeling when I go out that I have not forgotten my tampons."

Samantha

"I've been using the Mooncup for almost a year now and honestly, it's the best thing about my period! While I still have painful cramps and PMS, I don't compound this annoyance by having to carry about a stash of tampons, knowing that they'll end up in landfills and on beaches...I took to using it at once, and I can honestly say I've never had a leak! (I did drop it on the bathroom floor, early on - good god, it made a mess! But it's only blood!) I have a small but growing group of friends who use the cup, and we compare tips and experiences: the mooncup 'community' is a great thing! Thanks so much for enabling me to be more in control and in touch with my body - a truly life-changing product! "

Ellie R

"What do I think - well what an amazing thing the Mooncup is - I highly recommend it to all my friends and sadly tell everyone and anyone who will stand still long enough to hear about it ! No more not being able to stay over night (last minute) at friends because not having any extra period protection, instead freedom to stay over and party without fear. At a close family member's funeral I was able to grieve and to relax and not worry about leaking etc. To me the Mooncup equals freedom, and it has paid for itself time and time again - BUY ONE NOW - IT WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE =0) Estrela Thornton"

"I finally feel as though I have found a product that helps me celebrate my monthly cycle rather than treating it as a 'curse'. Its great to see just how much blood there is and to feel a sense of connection with my body's natural function. I'm also feeling very virtuous about the great benefit to the environment and am extremely happy not to be contributing to pollution any longer. Thanks for this enlightened approach to female health care. Can't praise it enough!"

Alexa

"A friend I lived with in Wales suggested the mooncup to me (and anyone else who would listen!) a couple of years ago. I have to admit I was not convinced at first and not sure about her boiling it in our communal kitchen, but I was intrigued by the healthy relationship she seemed to have with her period and I was interested in seeking more environmentally friendly sanitary products. So after a few months of thinking about it I bought one. It took me a little while to get used to taking it out but by the end of my second period I was converted! I LOVE MY MOONCUP!! I like to travel and last summer I went to Malaysia to help with a conservation project in the jungle. I took my mooncup with me and had three menstrual cycles while I was there. My mooncup took up no room at all in my rucksack and I didn’t have to worry about disposing of soiled products. I felt so unburdened compared to the other women I was away with and compared to my previous travels! I would recommend it to everywoman, everywhere! I realise mow that I have become like my friend in Wales… telling anyone who will listen about how great it is to use a mooncup! Spread the word…. everywoman should have one! "

Su

"I love this product! It took me a few days to get used to using the mooncup but I'm about 3 periods in now and haven't touched a tampon in that whole time. Very liberating. I recommend trimming the stem down in stages till it feels comfortable. I trimmed the stem down and down till finally I trimmed it right off and it fits fine and I have no trouble removing it all. I don't have the hassle of remembering to stock up on tampons at the right time or getting caught out if I've not done so every month. In addition if you are quite regular and know when you are due you can insert beforehand so no rushing to the loo in a panic or hunting around for tampons (especially if you're out and about) when your period arrives. It's great to know you are doing your bit for the environment too - and really for a pretty cheap price. Spread the word - it really is a great product."

Linda

"I just thought I should write and let you all know how what an amazing difference, the mooncup has made to my life! I bought one last year and I haven't looked back since. I got used to wearing it very quickly as it is so comfortable you don't know it is there. I have always had very heavy periods and now the mooncup makes my period stress free time as I do not have to worry about leakage or changing tampons and towels hourly and thinking about where I can find the toilet if I go out!! I wish that I had known about them sooner. I am recommending them to all my friends. Thank you for a wonderful environmentally friendly product. "

Julie

"I would just like to say how fab my Mooncup is. Even if you don't start using for environmental reasons, the sheer fact that it DOESN'T LEAK - at all!! - is enough for me to convert. I've got a massive stash of tampons and towels in my drawer which I promised myself I'd use up, but I can never bring myself to use either now. Please can I have some leaflets and stickers to put in the loos at work? Many thanks."

Amy

"I have one of those Implanon contraceptive implants which means I dont get my period for 2 years, then get a constant period that last over a month. I normally dread it because I have to use tampons constantly. This usually causes thrush and a lot of disomfort as the tampons obsorbe all the natural moisture. I personally love my mooncup. I dont have to worry anymore during this time. It never leaks, it is easy to clean, and i havnt had one accident with it yet (ruined panties). I want to tell everyone about it but Im frightened of their reaction. So its my happy little secret I guess :)"

Annabelle

"I love my mooncup, although I have to agree that I'd definitely but another one if they came out in the shops pink and sparkly!"

princess amy

"Wow. I wish I´d found out about this years ago. My friend had TSS, which put me off tampons and made me search for alternatives. The mooncup is not only TSS-safe, it´s also much more comfortable than tampons. No more soreness, leaking, checking-every-few-hours-on-semidry-tampon. And no more leaky, smelly pads. I found the mooncup very easy and comfortable to use - right from the start. "

Kelly

"Wow! why didn't anyone tell me about this years ago - i brought one this week and started to use it the same day - i can't wait to share the word this has revolutionised my life - why is there not more advertising to let all us women know of this fantastic product? I will recommend this to every woman i meet - thanks"

Sharon

"I've now been using my mooncup for 1 year and can safely say I will never go back to tampons. Yup...its a tad tricky getting the gist of positioning the cup for the first few times but its gets loads easier. For the 'green' aspect, I so wish more women would use these as the amount of waste EVERY MONTH one woman gets through is amazing. With mooncups, its nothing in comparison! Definately try one for a couple of months and see if its for you. "

Thea

"I`ve used the Mooncup for a couple of years and I have to say it`s been worth every cent I payed for it. My periods tend to be quite heavy and without my Mooncup I would leak several times a month. With it I can live like "normal people"! Even though it looks a bit frightening, as if it would be too big, it hasn`t been painful at all. "

Janni

"I started using the mooncup 2 days ago and I have to say it is the most fantastic way to deal with your period, its clean and hassle free and also libertating as I havent had to worry about having enough tampons to last a day. at first I was a bit scared of the size and inserting it and was worried that empying it would make me sqemish, but nothing of the sort!!! its fantastic!! get one!"

jessica

"The moon cup is amazing, had to carry the instructions with me to start off with, I kept forgetting to pinch the base, but it was comfortable, you forget you are wearing it, I didnt actually fit it to size untill I had started my period, due to being scared that I wouldnt be able to get it in, but it was so easy, if you wear tampons a moon cup is exactly the same, there was no leakage, no strings, I would advice anyone to use one, I will never go back now, plus it gives me the extra boost that I am not filling up landfill sites"

Sharon from High Wycombe

"Fabulous! The Moooon cup is just spectacular. I mean, I had so much trouble with my emotions when i had to use tampons. They just seemed so pointy and abrupt, but the mooncup is so soft and flexible that it adjusts to my womanly figure. it also saves my pocket money in the long term and i can't wait to use it every month. It gets me sooooo excited! why do we only get one period a month?? Thanks MOONCUP!! "

Rebecca Leigh

"The Mooncup is FANTASTIC!!!!! I've used it for 3 months now - it's easy to use, no leaks, smells or uncomfortable dragging feeling you get with tampons!! I have a slight prolapse, so inserting tampons was a nightmare, the mooncup is so soft and flexible, no pain at all - I LOVE MY MOONCUP!!!!"

emma

"Having read all this, & never heard of it before until an ad in the boots mag, I've ordered one!!"

Katharine

"At last there is another way ..... I am so happy I found an alternative to tampons and pads, not just for my health but for our mother earth. It is helping me to learn to enjoy my periods. I have told all my friends, family even my female lecturers are looking into it now!! Ladies we need to spread the word of this amazing product! I only wish I knew of it years ago. Thank you mooncup. "

Carls

"I read about the mooncup on several green/feminist sites and decided to take a closer look. After reading through a few testimonials, I decided to get one. And it is just fantastic - I've been telling all my friends about it, male and female! After hearing my enthusiasm about my mooncup my boyfriend commented, 'Stop, you're almost making me want to have periods!' Say no more... :D"

Charlotte

"I originally got my mooncup to reduce the wastage of using tampons, but I am delighted with it. I find it takes so much hassle out of having a period, you don't have to worry about running out of tampons because it is always there, you save a fortune, and I find it is more reliable and secure than tampons, I've used the cup for about 6 months and have had no problems with it whatsoever. It is comfortable, and you can continue to use it on really light days when usually you probably wouldn't want a tampon but don't feel quite safe enough to go without either. I cannot recommend this product more highly, for something so small it has made a big change to my life when I have my period, and if it hasn't won any awards for design it absolutely should. I know some people are put off because they are squeamish but if you are considering a mooncup you shouldn't be put off, just go for it because I don't think anyone could regret it"

Sallie

"I recently went to london and purcased a mooncup at boots. I have to say that I love it really mutch. I only wish more people knew about it. My mooncup is a trye miracle! "

Marie

"bloomin' brilliant just wish I'd found out about it sooner, and who invented it? they deserve the Nobel prize and probably several others!! (I see it's won a few awards!) Yay!"

"WHAT A WONDERFUL IDEA! I feel so enlightened. There was a time when the sun rose dark in my eyes once a month, and Chocolate was my only saviour. But not any more! No longer must my fearful bits quake at the prospect of the dreaded Tampon Demon, for the shining Knightess Mooncup has arrived on her white and eco-friendly steed! Never again shall I carry my bag into the toilets with me to a chorus of tactless questions such as “Why do you need your bag with you?” from various men-folk. And the Irritation known as Tampon-String shall never darken my door again! Huzzah! I feel so much healthier now, and I never have to worry about tampons not flushing down the toilet when there is no bin in the bathroom. So THANK YOU! May the sun ever shine upon you and all your beloved, and may the joyous news of this simple little device spread far and wide on a crusade of comfort and deliverance. PS – and thanks to Mum for being the agent of my enlightenment :o)"

"Saves money! Never get caught without, when you forget to stock up on tampons/towels! Easy to use, comes with a cute little pouch, so you can keep in your bag when you go out. Doesn't leak like tampons did. I now have more space in my bathroom cabinet! Holds itself very well in place. Fab product! Wish I found it years ago! I don't think I will ever go back to the old way of having a period! May even buy a pair of white trousers! Thanks! xx"

Angel

"Hi I've been using a mooncup for a year and a half now, and it's brilliant! But I did have trouble getting used to it so would like to reassure anyone who is starting out and having doubts that perseverance is definitely worthwhile! My first attempts at using the mooncup left me feeling battered and bruised, so it wasn't until I had persevered for a few months that it just "clicked", and once I had removed enough of the stem (in my case all of it!), it suddenly became easy. I'm so glad I didn't give up!"

Debbie

"I love it! Wish I had had it when I went travelling round the world when I was younger - think of the space saved in your rucksack, and the far easier disposal when in underdeveloped countries........plus the environemtal savings, ; am buying more for my friends! Thank you"

Cat

"The Mooncup is a brilliant innovation. I have now been using mine for a year, and have completely eliminated the use of tampons or towels. I am a teenager and a virgin and I experienced pain the first time I tried it. I remember thinking I had wasted my money and I would never be able to use it, I couldn't imagine using it as easily as some of the testimonials suggested. Of course, now it doesn't take a second thought and managing my period is incredibly easy (and like other women I have found my period reduced by at least a day). I would recommend doubling with towels until you are completely adjusted to it, but as I said, I now have no need for them. The only downside with the mooncup is the occasional inconvenience in public toilets -- if you have a heavy flow it can be a little messy. Otherwise, this is a fantastic product I would recommend to any woman."

Rebecca

"I'm just so happy with this product. It should be on every Australian chemist and supermarket shelf. I have used it for the last two periods with no problems, no leaking and above all, no need to use ANYTHING else. It's so comfortable! The amount of landfill I've saved makes me feel great, and the thought of depriving all those horrid tampon and pad companies of some of the profits for their criminally overpriced products makes me feel even better. Viva la mooncup! I'm spreading the word. Keep up the great work!"

Caren

"Well, what can I say? The mooncup is absolutely fantastic - for the first time ever I've had a comfortable and stress-free period. It probably sounds like I'm exaggerating, but I haven't had to worry about leaks, or whether I have enough sanpro with me. In fact, I almost forgot I was on my period. I really wish I'd tried it sooner."

Diana

"What a fantastic product! I started using my mooncup last month and had almost no problems with it after a couple of days getting used to it. I work overseas a lot in areas where tampons aren't always available and "disposal issues" so this is going to prove SUCH a boon. I'm aware how evangelical I'm becoming about the mooncup and just wish someone had told me about it 20 years ago! Thank you!"

"I would like to pay a huge compliment to the customer care offered with this product… The first time I used it I had a bit of a trouble getting the Mooncup out as I had cut the stem too short (although now with correct use I realise this doesn’t even matter) and couldn’t get a grip on anything. It wasn’t so pleasant thinking it was stuck and after a quite a while of mis-guided trying I had definitely got myself into a panic. So I sent a bit of an alarmed email and received a reply almost immediately. I wasn’t at the computer again for a while but because I hadn’t replied to say it was ok there had been 3 emails sent to check I was alright and a personal number given to call at any time for help. This is a very impressive approach to customer care, so refreshing to find non- automated, first hand advice, it was approached in a very caring way which is also maybe reflected in the nature of the product which I think is a wonderfully liberating as well as conscientious one to use. And the advice was exactly correct; by first of all relaxing then bearing down and pushing 2/3 times the suction was loosened and I had no problems getting it out in fact now I find it easy but without this advice and a bit of experimenting I would have definitely had trouble. (Maybe it might be worth it in future adding a bit more information on this case into the leaflet, as it doesn't really cover it) I also feel the need to sing from the mountain tops about how great it is and agree with the comment about how beautiful my blood seems to me as I now have the chance to see it making beautiful patterns as it mixes with the water in the bowl…I have a new relationship with menstruations and AT LAST IT’S A GOOD ONE. Thanks again from a very happy customer "

"Fantastic! I've told all the women I know about this product. It has saved me a fortune as I now only use 1 or 2 towels a month for my heaviest days (as an extra precaution). Also, it saves me having to leave tampons in the bin (my dog loves to have a rummage for those!Nice!) and I don't have to worry about using it during lighter days as it doesn't absorb natural lubricants. Thank you thank you thank you!"

Anna

"AMAZING!!! Why oh why has it taken so long for this priceless info to reach me??? So easy and utterly brilliant!! Thanks."

Cara

"I'm 20 years old and have been using the mooncup for over 18 months now. Having always had heavy periods and constantly having to change tampons sometimes as regularly as every hour, my monthly cycle became uncomfortable and inconvienent. I saw an advert for the mooncup and decided to find out more. I was rather dubious at first but i ordered one to see whether it worked for me. The first month i found hard to adapt to the mooncup and rather uncomfortable, i was reluctant to try again but i did. WOW, since then the mooncup has been a comfort to my periods, i can neither feel the mooncup in place and there is less changing to do and no leakages. V satisfied!!!! Highly Recommended"

Jodie

"I bought the mooncup because i was intrigued about it - but now i'm so glad it is, i just wish everyone knew about it. I must admit i didn't think it was going to be for me, but after using it a couple of times and getting used to it i COULD NOT be without it. I feel much cleaner and comfortable - they should be free on the NHS!!!! Brilliant - thanks "

Charlie

"I've been using my MoonCup for about a year now, and it has made such a difference to my life. Now I feel confident about running, swimming, skiing, going out and travelling the world for the whole month, not just three weeks. I even used it on a long diving holiday and you'll be glad to hear it performs just as well at 30m. Spread the word about this fantastic, comfortable, liberating and environmentally-friendly product!"

Tash

"I've just used my mooncup for the first time. I was a bit worried about it when it arrived, as it seemed a bit... big. But after using it for one cycle, I am totally converted. It is easy to use, comfortable, seems a lot 'cleaner' then tampons. I am already telling all my friends to buy one."

Emma Shepherd

"Hurrah for mooncups! I love it. Fewer cramps, shorter periods (why is this?!) and no more carrying around a bag of every size tampon and towel 'just in case'. Public toilets aren't an issue I've discovered that carrying a bottle of water really isn't a chore and if you're concerned about bacteria, get anti microbial 'buzz fresh' wipes from Ann Summers (sorry to advertise another store - maybe you could branch into them too?!)and carry them round in your mooncup bag! They're amazing and once you're used to how often you need to change them, it's far less regularly than vile tampons. However there should be a warning with them that as soon as you have one you will lecture all your friends about them, buy them as gifts for random deserving people and accost strangers in the tampon aisle in supermarkets and enlighten them on mooncups. Be warned! Thank you for creating such a fab period happy-maker! Kindest wishes, Gem"

"I am using my mooncup for the second month and think it is fantastic. I read about it in a book recently but before that I had no idea that something like this even existed. To begin with I thought it sounded disgusting but I am trying to be more environmentally friendly and also the financial saving was a huge incentive so I thought I would give it a go. The first month I could only use it for the first day and a half of my period as I had made myself really sore taking it in and out trying to cut the stalk to a comfortable lenght - so I would recommend that anybody new to the mooncup should do this before their period begins. This month has been brilliant though. I haven't leaked at all, only need to empty it 3 times a day and you don't get any of that tell tale embarrasing smell that you get with sanitary towels. I just can't believe that there was this life changing and liberating product available and I didn't even know about it! "

marianne

"Being very eco-friendly I had always hoped to find an alternative to pads so the mooncup was a welcomed invention! Having never even used tampons before I was a little nervous at first. I've only had it 2 months and though I'm still working on getting it perfected, I am loving it! I cant feel it, it makes life easier with what clothes I wear (which I couldnt with a pad) and its very ecofriendly which is wonderful! Thanks so much and for the help on your website! "

Maddie

"It's almost like you can forget you're on - apart from the period pais o'course! (which are nowt to do with the Mooncup, I should add). Being gobby, I've sounded off to all my mates about it - once you get the knack it's easier to use than tampons, less messy, less environmentally damaging, more comfortable etc. I also found it more difficult to get out than get in & endorse the previous comment about 'breaking the seal'. It's not for those who are squeamish about sticking their fingers up their fan, but if not, you'll be more than OK. Go for it - you really could go roller skating, hang gliding and basketball-ing with this little beauty on board! x"

"I purchased a mooncup because tampons make me itch, I also have a job that makes loo trips few and far between and have ruined many a good pair of knickers due to leakage. I have a supply of period pants, those big grey ones that wash well. I also hate the feeling of removing a dryish tampon. How miserable is all the above?? The mooncup has stopped all this, it has enhanced my life, I am a nurse and many a time grumbled under my breath that I am leaking big style whilst helping patients with their hygiene and not able to manage my own. Thank you. "

Louise

"since using the mooncup i have being able to live my life to the fullest, and enjoy everyday without the worry of leaking. "

"I'll admit I was doubtful- it did sound potentially messy. I was a bit tipsy when I ordered it after a Friday 'girls night out' where I saw a sticker. But now I am so impressed. I RESENT THE FACT I DIDN"T KNOW ABOUT THESE SOONER!!! For years I have suffered from an uncomfortable dried-out thrushy feeling using tampons. As for the waste produced..... But the Mooncup is very easy to use, clean, super convenient and really a WONDERFUL invention. I couldn't live without mine. One of the best bonuses is being able to use it when you think you're about to come on. When staying over at friends for the night I really sleep better knowing there'll be no messy 'accidents' in the night. And I have really noticed less period pain. And finally, though I never believed this was possible, my attitude to my periods has changed too . I know I'll press 'send' on this message and think of more things I should have added to persuade you. I have told all my friends ( and had some fascinating conversations as a result of breaking that silly taboo) Go on, get one. You won't use tampons again"

"I've been using a mooncup for a few days now and i love it! I wish I'd bought one years ago! I haven't had any problems with it and feel like telling every woman i meet! it's cheaper, more environemntally friendly, and feels much more comfortable and natural. thank you and i hope that all fellow mooncupers spread the word like i intend to!"

" Last year I bought a mooncup off your website and when I received it I e-mailed you thanking you for the very quick delivery. I also stated that I wouldn't be able to use it for a while due to not getting periods for a while due to breasfeeding.I am now using the mooncup and think it's fantastic! When I received it I looked at it and thought it was a bit daunting. Then I thought well I've had a baby so it wouldn't be impossible. Well the other day I used it for the first time and am pleased to say I got it right first time really esy to use. It's brilliant! It just feels like I'm not getting my period at all you wouldn't know it's there. It's improved things in so many ways. I've got my baby to thank for making me discover it. I'm very big into the environment so it wasn't untill I bought biodegradable nappies that it occurred to me that you can get biodegradable sanitary towels. Then I came across the mooncup which is great in so many ways, I don't mean to keep on but I'm just so impressed. I wish I discovered it sooner every woman should have one. I'm pleased to say that I've even convinced my mother to get one, especially as she's got allergies. Is it possible to ask for more stickers and leaflets please? I'm determined to spread the word, I wish there was more I could do. I can't thank you enough! Yours sincerely/thankfully very happy customer"

"I have 3 children, i heard about the mooncup from a parenting website, everyone saying how great etc, I hate tampons and towels so i thought give it a go!!, I have never looked back, it is the most comfortable "thing" i have used during my eriod, no leaks nothing! easy to use and clean.. I have recently moved to the USA and have had my workmates order one aswell and they love it and are passing it onto there friends!! all i can say is that this is a fantastic product and a blessing to women!"

"Like most of the ladies on this site, I too, am converted. I feel liberated and in control (also fascinated to see the amount each time)! I haven't been able to tell enough people about the Mooncup, sometimes it's a difficult subject to broach, but I desperately need more stickers and leaflets to distribute and continue to 'spread the word of the converted'!! I think the sex education people at schools should bring these to the attention of the younger generation before they go along the tampon and towel route with all the other sheep!"

Amanda

"Thanks very much for the advice! It was really helpful and it's got a lot better with practice. I didn't want to go back to the old ways so I was really relieved!!! Thanks for being so helpful, I 'll keep trying to win people round to the mooncup! Cheers "

Hannah

"OH MY GOD! where has this been all my life, i've used my mooncup for the first time this month, and for the first time this month, no stained panties and no leaks. this is the first product that hasn't leaked me. i couldn't underestimate how it feels to be able to wear a white skirt and pants for work on my period. i thought i would have to wait for the menopause. but thank you so much i will spred the word as much as i can!!!!!!!!!!"

helen

"Thank you for my mooncup or (magic cup) as i call it. As i have heavy periods it has made my moon time so much less stressy, no more horrid soggy sanitary towels or tampons going out into the environment..i am on my second month and did have a few inserting problems at the beginning but now it feels part of my body and it is so comfortable and hygeinic. Will be spreading the word. Fantastic.x"

karen

"I am definitely not going back to standard sanitary products having got to grips with the Mooncup. Initially I tried it during my period only on days when I was at home so that I could practice and make sure I was using it properly. I did find it very difficult to insert properly at first and it took me several months before I finally got it right and felt confident enough to wear the cup outside of the house. However, when I compare this to the amount of time it took me to get used to using tampons the time is comparable, perhaps not even as long. What made me persevere was that I have on occasion lost the string of my tampon and had one stuck inside me which is extremely unpleasant and worrying health-wise. I am also concerned about the environment. I do have very heavy periods for the first few days and have found that wearing a pantyliner is necessary in case I can’t change the cup often enough – although I also used to use pantyliners when using tampons. I have found that on occasion I have had a major leak when using the cup, sometimes at night and I don’t think this is because I put it in wrongly it’s just that once the cup is full, it’s full and the blood has to go somewhere. I do find it a messier process than using a tampon when my period is heavy but because of all the other benefits I am sticking with the Mooncup – it’s cheaper, healthier and eco-friendly."

"The mooncup is amazing! I can't believe how simple it is to use."

Ally, West Coast of Scotland

"I just started using my mooncup today. I'm really pleased with it. I must admit when it arrived I was a little surprised at the size of it. I had a few practice runs they went ok but I found it so much easier to do during my period. I was also a little worried it might be messy to use, I have fairly heavy periods and I've found mooncup to actually be LESS messy than using tampons. I'm still surprised now. I've decided not to use pain killers this period because I need the pain to remind me I'm actually having one! "

cheryl

"It took me a little while to get used to the 'mooncup' and I have to say that the advice that I received from a mooncup representative was fantastic. I have now successfully, comfortably and confidently been using my cup for over a year. It has proved to be indispensable especially when I have been attending music festivals (I always seem to be on my period at these times!). I am sooo glad that my friend told me about the 'Mooncup' and I now make sure that I tell all my friends about it. It truly is amazing."

Amanda

"I'd wanted a Mooncup for ages, but as a 19 year old virgin who still suffers discomfort inserting and removing tampons even after several years' use I thought a cup could only be worse. However, next week I fly off to live out of a rucksack for two months, and the thought of not having to take boxes of tampons like I did the last time I went backpacking pushed me into buying one. I'll be honest - my first attempt at getting it in ended in tears of pain and frustration. But I had success the second time and once in I didn't even feel it - it was much easier than I thought it would be. My main motivation for buying one was environmental, and it feels wonderful to know I'll never contribute another tampon to landfill again. However, the fact that it's cheaper, healthier and more convenient than any other form of protection is also a bonus! I always wore pantyliners with tampons for when they started to leak but I don't need to any more. Now I'm in control!"

Rebecca

"the mooncup is the best thing ever. it made my period like every other day of my life. at the beginning i thought it'd be gross, but it is so much better than a tampon!"

Kay

"Janey Lee Grace on Radio 2 was talking about Mooncups and I was intrigued. I’m nearly 39 and periods have been a pain in the butt since I was about 12. I ordered the size A as recommended, but when it arrived I thought ‘there is no way that is going to fit up there’. Tried it for the first time last night and had a few problems getting it in, but saw the funny side and ended up giggling away to myself in the bathroom (thank goodness no-one else was around). Eventually I got the thing in (I found wetting it helped) without it pinging out of my hand. It was slightly uncomfortable as I hadn’t trimmed the stem at all (too paranoid I’d never get it out or back in again) so I removed it, trimmed a bit and then put it back. I wore it all through the night with no problem and managed to remove it (I think that’s the tricky bit – I need more practice) and re-insert it without too much hassle after trimming a bit more. Today at work I’m realising that the stem needs some further trimming but going to the loo armed with water and a pair of scissors could get me some strange looks, so I’ll have to put up with it until later. So far I’m impressed and am hoping that with more practice, and some further trimming, it will be even better! I’ll keep you posted . . . . ."

"Mooncup is absolutely amazing and beatuful. I have it for 4 days and already don't know how could I live without it! Thank you so much for this ingenious invention!"

"Absolutely fabulous, I am never going back to using horrible pads or tampons. It works like a dream and is so easy to use. i only wish I had heard of this years ago!!!!"

Frances

"I bought a moooncup last year and really loved it. Haven't needed to use it for a while due to the fact that I got pregnant! This was some surprise to me due to the fact that I'd failed to conceive for the previous 10 years! I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has had this happy side effect from using mooncups. I previously used tampons and am wondering if there could have been some toxins present in them or something that could have been impeding my attempts to conceive. Could be completely unconnected of course, but would be interested to know if it's happened to anyone else!"

Kathy

"WOW. I can't believe how wonderful the mooncup is. I was sceptical but willing to give it a try as I'm prone to getting Thrush after using tampons. No thrush and no dryness. Couldn't be more delighted. Spreading the news to all my girl friends. "

Tess

"I have had my mooncup 12months. IT HAS CHANGED MY LIFE!!!!! No kidding, I have had a problem with tampons all my life and when I came across the Mooncup I was very sceptical. I wish I had one years ago - I love the freedom of it. I used to go thro several pair of pants every month and I am fresh and clean as a daisy right thro my period without need for additional protection. I have told all my friends about them and everyone who has bought them swears by it. It is a fantastic investment and for every woman, a must. Thank you so much!!"

Sally from Stoke

"Hi, I have just used my mooncup for the first time. I feel like telling every other woman about how wonderfully free and liberating it is. I can't believe I haven't heard of these before. I used it for the first time on holiday, bringing 'back-up tampons & towels. I did not need them. The freedom of not having to think about how many tampons to take along on a day out, and how to dispose of them when sharing accomodation/bathroom with others. Just brilliant!!! I will be spreading the word. Thanks."

"Moon cup is so blliliant!A revolution happened to me when I used the moon cup for the first time 1.5years ago.Moon cup is much convenient and much easier to insert than I thought.I don't need to go to toilet so flequently, and I don't need to take sanitary napkins and tanpons with me anymore. It was hard for me to carry them secretly to the toilet for me,going to the toilet with my cosmetic pouch was so embarrassing,it was almost talling that I am on my period, since most of my workmates are men.And I don't need to care disposing dirty sanitary gabage is also an advantage, since there isn't a trash can in a toilet in some places. That's also ecological. And now I have less cramps before. Also it's economical,I cannot estimate how much I paid for sanitary goods since my first period ...for more than 15 years.I can be naked and go to women's sauna now because moon cup is hidden in my body,it's quite different from tampons which have strings outside.I really think this product should be advertised more and more!In my country most people still never heard of Moon cup,I guess. And I guess there is a language barrier for them to order from my country.I wanna tell about Moon cup loudly in public! I use organic cotton pad with moon cup on the 2nd day and 3rd day to avoid leakage when my menstrual flow is very heavy, but I seldom find stains on a pad.Now I can enjoy my menstruation and even I can wait the next time.can you believe?Thank you again,Moon cup! "

"I have been telling everyone now about the Mooncup - female or male! I think it's brilliant - you don't have to remember to take your tampons with you when you go to the loo...it's always there! No more embarassing times at work hiding them in your hand and hoping you don't meet anyone who wants to chat on your way to the toilet! I can go clubbing and not worry about putting them in my bag, and I don't have to make the decision on towel or tampon at night - it's just the mooncup! It's now a standing joke amongst my friends, but I'm sure they'll all convert!"

Vickie

"I'm very surprised! I was at first wary of spending almost £20 on a product that I'd never seen before; but I'm glad that I did! No more waste and pollution to feel guilty about at least! It was strange to use for the first few days but it's so easy to get used to. Unlike tampons, I find it rare to have to check for any leaks; just one thing I haven't got my head around yet! I'm glad that this is a product approved by the Vegetarian Society, otherwise I'd have never known of it. Many thanks for a pollution-free item to use during the inconvenient days of the month!"

"I read an article in the paper and decided to go for it. Fantastic! Having not been able to use tampons for 10 years I now feel I have a new lease of life when my period arrives. I had no trouble using it straight away and look forward to many years of use. Thanks mooncup"

"After having children my periods were unbelievably heavy, to the point that I was quite worried about leaving the house on a couple of the days. Super plus tampons and heavy duty pads were not enough to stop leaks, and I was even nervous about my soft furnishings- no joke! Having read about the mooncup I was sceptical as I couldn't believe that it would cope with my heaviest days. So after experiencing yet another shopping trip which ended with a dash home for a complete change of clothing(!) I bought a mooncup, thinking what have I got to lose? Like so many other women on this site, I was converted from day one. No leaks at all, and on my second month of use I was even relaxed enough not to be popping to the loo every half hour to check that all was clear below! Public loos are not the challenge you may expect, as the mooncup cleans up really well with a quick wipe with toilet paper, and of course it is so discreet,as there are no more tell tale rustling wrappers (if you are coy about these things). The freedom I experience in using my mooncup is amazing, I don't have to pack my handbag like a kids nappy bag any more (pads, tampons, wipes, spare pants)and I am reassured that my mooncup is all I need for guarranteed protection from leaks through out my period. Of course the best thing about mooncups is the impact on the environment- none! (apart from the manufacturing processes about which I know nothing!) If you are still undecided, take the step and buy yourself a mooncup, you won't regret it and after one day using it you will be kicking yourself for being so sceptical."

Vikki

"I first saw a Mooncup being promoted by the Cornish Real Nappy Project at a playday in Penzance last year and both laughed and grimaced at the idea - I laugh and grimace no longer - having extremely heavy periods and being fed up with the cost of buying loads of tampons each month and also wanting to be more environmentally friendly, I remembered the Mooncup and decided to buy one this morning. What a great invention!! So comfortable and practical and easy to use! Thank you so much! I will recommend this to all women I know and I promise to not laugh or grimace any more! Best Wishes, Sarah Taylor, Penzance, Cornwall."

Sarah Taylor

"My Mooncup is fab I will never go back to Tampons again and so discret as people do not know you are on your period andi dont have to carry around bulky tampon boxes, also recommend cutting the stem to make it more comfortable. "

Katie Waite

"I brought a mooncup recently. At first I wasnt sure about it - its seemed awfully big, but I got the courage up and tried it - and I could never ever go back!I still use a pad on my first few days, and when I do PE - just in case, but I have had very few leaks. At first I had a few problems getting it out, but I soon developed a knack for it! I worked out the price of it per day that youre on a period - assuming it lasts for 5 years, each period lasts for 6 days and it came to about 5p per day! now thats what I call value for money! Ive been persuading my friends to get one - and im getting more successes! and one last thing - Thank you so much for making my life easier for me!"

Tricia

"When I first read about Mooncups in a magazine, I was querious. So after looking at the site, reading some testimonials, I found my nearest retailer. At first it took a little getting used to, but now, I wouldn't be without it. As I've had problems (direct result of giving birth and very heavy periods), the Mooncup has given me a freedom I never thought I would have. The only regret I have is that I was not abel to use it till now!"

Joanne

"I've been using my mooncup for a year now and I honestly wouldn't go back to anything else. It takes a little bit to get the hang of using it but once you get the knack it's amazing. I've found (for some reason) I don't get as much period pain, thrush or soreness. To be a bit rude my sex life has improved too as I no longer take a week or longer to recover from the damage that tampons were doing to me. I'd recommend mooncups to anyone."

beca

"I was really surprised how practical the mooncup was. I have always used conventional tampons but saw an advert for the Mooncup and decided to try it. I was thrilled and now I tell all my female friends and want to convert them all. Not only is the Mooncup environmentally friendly it's practically undetectable, I forgot I was wearning it,it was so comfortable."

Clare

"The mooncup is fabulous. It is the only thing I've used that doesn't leak and I haven't used a towel or tampon for three months! It takes a while to get used to putting it in, but it's well worth it. It would be great if the lettering on the inside was flatter though, to make it easier to clean. Overall, I think this product should be shouted from the rooftops, we could reduce all those landfills so much if even half the women out there used it. Thank you!!!"

Laura

"I love my mooncup. So much so i accidentally let mine boil over and didn't mind buying another! i went back to tampons first for 2 periods. what i mistake. I'd forgotten how annoying they were always to have to carry them with you. Not to mention how uncomfortable and how drying and cotton wool like they are. I'd recomend the mooncup to anyone. Also they last for so long but i prefer them so much i'd be happy if you had to replace it every year! You don't so that is yet another bonus!"

Jo B

"I have one complaint - could it come with a buzzer to remind you to empty it?! I have only had mine through 2 cycles but with my most recent period I would inevitably get into bed, be just at the point of dozing off and realize I had forgotten I it was there and that I even HAD my period. So then I would have to drag myself out of the comfort of bed to go and sort it out... Not that it would matter too much - the one night I completely forgot I still had no leakage and no problems. As a lot of women have already said above, I wish I knew about these when I first started my periods."

Lydia Bryant

"Just wanted to rave on about my mooncup! I'm 38 years old and about three months ago saw an advert in Boots Magazine for mooncup.... After years of tampon use and the dreaded dryness and the irritating string, I was fed up of my monthlies... But, I ordered the Mooncup and have used it now for two periods. WOW! what a difference it has made to my life. I feel totally in control every month now, instead of my period controlling me! I'm quite shocked that this has been around for many years and wonder why I hadn't discovered this sooner. At first, like many other users, my first reaction when it arrived was what the? However, I soon found myself looking forward (!) to my period. The instructions are really easy to use, but that first time I used it, I had a right giggle as the cup just kept 'popping' unfolded. So I soon learnt to hold it more firm, once folded. Great product, easy to use and I am well impressed. I have been raving to all my friends about it. Having just seen an advert for TAMPAX scented(!), now that can't be good for your body....!?? I want to let everybody know there is another answer to dealing with your monthlies. GET A MOONCUP!!!! Have now used my mooncup for two periods, and have noticed a huge difference - no leaks, no dryness, no irritation and for some reason, a shorter period!! For all of you out there thinking about trying the mooncup, go ahead. You'll never look back.. "

Suzi

"i got my mooncup last month, i have very heavy periods, this is the first time in years i have not leaked, no rushing to changing tampons ever 2 hours, i have just ordered another for my daughter 18th birthay"

Elaine

"Hooooray! I heard about Mooncup or something similar many years ago but didn't think we could actually get them here. My boyfriend is a medical student and fascinated with menstruation in a very supportive medical way and he had suggested i get one of these. I had just been reading about rayon in tampons and bleach and through right- let's chant to find one of these cup things- then we were in the big boots in oxford st and there it was on the shelf! we were soo excited! Please have it in every Boots and Superdrug?? everyone should know it is an alternative to horrible pads which I found horrific and called nappies when I was a teen. yuck! I think a smart contained for the mooncup would be good though for travelling. congrats on getting to Boots!"

Lisa

"I NEVER imagined I would be adding my voice to the testimonials, I'm always so sceptical about these things! I just couldn't wait to confirm what everyone is saying! I ordered the mooncup with some trepidation, imagining I could be paying out for an internet product I might never receive. I received the mooncup within 5 days. As soon as I saw it I wondered if I should have parted with my money...would I really get on with this gadget? Well, I am now into my second month with the mooncup...I suppose I just wanted to check that it would really work 2 months running, and I am not disappointed! The cup is comfortable, I have experienced no leaks, it is easy to use from the very first time, easy to clean...just great! I have used it on days out without fear of leaks, and without having to organise spare tampons and I am a complete convert. I am sure that my body likes it better too-I have had no cramp, no clotting, no dryness at the end of my cycle - I just can't rave enough about the mooncup! Thank you, thank you, thank you! (Where have you been for the last 22 years of my menstrual life?!)"

Sar

"WOW! After years of seeing Mooncup stickers on the back of toilet doors and dismissing the idea as revolting and only for the commited eco-warrior, I was finally persuaded to give it a try thanks to the recommendations I read on an internet forum. I am in my second month of using the mooncup and it has, quite frankly, revolutionised my time of the month! It is so comfortable and, although it took a few days to get used to, I am now finding it very easy to use. I am squeamish about blood too but I don't find the mooncup has any more of a 'yuck' factor than tampons or towels, plus it is so much better for the environment. Thank you mooncup inventor, I am a total convert and am now working on my friends!"

Rachel

"the testimonials are all true - today is day one of my mooncup experience and I already feel safe and confident, so much so, I'd say I'm never going back to tampons! "

liz

"I saw the advert for a mooncup on the back of a loo door in my university library. Needless to say it was graffitied, but I was still intregued. I looked at the website and I was convinced. *tip - buy from ebay - I got mine for £13 as opposed to the £17.99 charged in Boots). I'm so glad I bought this mooncup; I've got it in now, and it's brillant - I truly forget when I'm on my period. I'm quite a squeamish person, and it took me a long time to use tampons, but even I can use the mooncup. Because my periods are so light I only have to empty it twice a day - before and after bed. And the best thing of all is that when I get out of the shower, I no longer end up staining the towels with menstrual blood - brilliant! Finally, I'm so glad I've discovered mooncup at the age of 18 - I have a lifetime of money saving ahead of me, never again will I have to load up the trolley with tampons and towels. I remember years ago reading in a teenage girl's magazine about different sanitary protection, and a mooncup-type product was mentioned. It got pretty bad press actually, and looking back the mooncup really should have been publicised in a more favourable light. Obviously most girls start using towels, but there should be no reason why they move on to uniquely tampons - PUBLICISE THE MOONCUP! So basically - thanks!"

Helena

"I bought a mooncup a while ago after reading an article explaining the effects of tampons being flushed down the toilet and into the sea. I was shocked, and quite disgusted, so I followed the link for buying a mooncup, and I have never regretted it. Being a teenager, of 15, I am probably one in a hundred who actually realises that there are other methods out there and I can thoroughly say that the mooncup has changed my life. It really does give you the freedom to do what you like when you are on your period, and because of the material its made from its great to use even at the end of your period, when I used to resort to sanitary towels as tampons hurt too much. I very rarely get cramps with the mooncup but I used to get them all the time with tampons. The advice I can give to teenage girls in my position who are considering a moon cup is go for it! Don't be afraid just because you have to insert it yourself, I mean its just another part of your body, oh and make sure you trim the stem enough (I find I only need the stump to remove it). Finally, I would like to say thank you to the creators of the mooncup as I can't imagine having to go back to life before I found it... (and the extra money I get from not buying tampons is a big boost as well)"

"I dread that time every month when thre painters come to visit, they always do a messy job! I had read about mooncup many months ago, but never had the guts to try it, but as the time was approacing, I went to boots and bought your 'b' model (very handy from a store ) and decided to try it that very month, i tested it first to make sure the stem length was right, but eventually i cut that all off It felt so natural this cup, i found it wasy to use straight away, my work toilets have a small sink in each cubicle, so very handy for me and found a good rinse helped with insertion. No leakage at all! which was my main concern and I dont actually bleed as much as i thought i did! I also noticed my cramps were less, not sure if this was mooncup induced or not a full on paint job this time! I am completly impressed by the mooncup and have mentioned it to friends, although some are a bit squeamish... In the few days i used it, it made me realise how many tampons I would use in that short space of time , one or two just in case, then continuoulsy changing and through the night, and with the mooncup i felt less restricted about making sure I had packed enough and stayed mess free THANK YOU!!!! 100% converted"

Rachael Ashton

"I can't believe that nobody has told me about the Mooncup before. I bleed quiet heavily on the first 2-3 days of my period. I've only started using this yesterday (first day of my period) after reading about it in a magazine. I was even able to go to a Bodypump class on the same day, that would have been unthinkable before. I love the fact that it's re-usable and reduces rubbish. I feel it's much "cleaner" than a tampon. No smells. The only negative point was that Boots didn't know what I'm talking about when I asked for it. I went to the biggest store in town (Edinburgh, Princes Street) and they sent me home telling me that they didn't have it (they didn't know what I was talking about either). By accident I found it myself on the bottom shelf. Please sort this out for the sake of every female in Edinburgh. If you're a woman, get one!!! It will change your period forever."

Michaela

"Hello, I've had a mooncup for almost a year now and think that it is fantastic. My bouts of cystitis are now much less frequent and monthly irritaion has dissapeared. I have told many of my friends already and I am hoping that you can send me some stickers and leaflets so I can spread the word more widely! "

Ellie

"I have been meaning to email my glowing testimony for a couple of months now - in fact since the first day I used my mooncup. I have never had such a hassle-free period and am delighting in knowing that I am beingkind to my body, the environment and my purse! I really cannot recommend the Mooncup more higly, it has put an end to years of worry and discomfort, and the only problem is that I have to restrain myself from striking up conversations with strangers and recommending it to them! Many many thanks, and to www.tuktotheroad.com where I found the link. "

sophiew

"I've been using the Mooncup for a few months now, and I can safely say I will NEVER use a tampon again. It's easy to use and much more secure than a tampon. You don't need to worry about forgetting to have it with you, and it feels great thinking about the money I'm not spending each month on sanitary products, and the amount of waste I'm not contributing to the environment. I really think women have been fooled for too long into thinking that sanitary towels and tampons are the only solution, when an entirely new approach is needed. Get a Mooncup, you won't regret it!"

Em

"I am using the mooncup for the first time and am very happy with it - it's easy to use and very comfortable. My daughter and her friends are going to give it a go!"

Katie

"My very first Mooncup arrived today .. I read an article in The Times last Saturday and up til then had never heard of it.. I went to my local branch of Boots earlier in the week but none on sale, so ordered online. I have got my period right now so ideal to experiment! I just could not believe how easy it was, the only very tiny thing was cutting the little stem to the right length, but now its comfy. Its like fold it once, fold it twice then pop it in, I find if you squueze your pelvic floor after inserting it it immediately makes a seal. I've taken it in and out 3 times already tonight just to make sure its ok and yes, all the blood is in the cup.. no problems! I personally have found it easier to insert if I run it under the tap first so it's wet. No more tampons in my bag.. and annoying strings hanging down, or tampons soaking up the bathwater and having to be changed after my bath. It's like not having a period when you're having one!! You can tell I'm thrilled.. spread the word girls.. "

Linda

"One of the other testimonials mentions 'a week of hell' during her period...I can so relate to this...For the past 15 years, I've gone through tampons and pads untold, spent oh so much money, not to mention the usual cramps, headaches, painkillers and aches which were part and parcel of the first three days, not to mention leakages...More recently, whatever material sanitary towels are made of, no matter how often I changed them and cleaned up, washed, caused infections and itching down below which I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy... I didn't really expect miracles from the Mooncup when I ordered it, I'm definitely not the most ecologically friendly person in the world...I'd read recently that tampons and sanitary towels actually contain chemicals which also cause heavier bleeding (not just through their usual absorbency, I'm not 100% sure here), and as I've always had heavy periods, literally seven days of heavy flow, I thought I'd give it a try, sort of 'I won't lose more than 20 quid anyway' if it doesn't help... I'm on my fourth day of using the Mooncup this evening, and I am a complete convert... Apart from the first day when I didn't cut off the stem, and leaked all over the place, and some panicked checking and cleaning in case it overfilled, I've had apsolutely no problems with insertion, removal, cleaning, headaches, cramps (except the first hour of my period as it gets going)...I've gone out without panicked checking of my pants every half an hour, I've even dared to wear a white skirt on one of my heavy days... No pain, no hassle, no worries if the only shop in a one mile radius has my particular brand of towel (which it doesn't)...I'm a woman reborn, and finally, after two births and fifteen solid years of hell once a month, happy with my body and its workings... Thank you so much for being here and expect more happy customers if I have anything to do with it..."

Ana

"i am 15 and found my heavy periods resticting my active lifestyle and making a nuisance!!at first I was nervous about the mooncup but now i think its great that periods can be both easy and enviromentaly friendly. I forget all about my period- with a mooncup i neednt worry!"

rhiannon

"I first heard about the mooncup about 5 years ago but it has taken me until last year to get up the courage to try it. I'm so glad I did. I used to go through about 3 super-tampons and a super pad every hour or so due to how heavy my periods were. Not anymore with the moon-cup! I only have to empty the moon-cup every 3 hours or and the only disposable products I EVER have to use anymore are a very occasional panty liner. As a vegan and an enviromentalist I love your product and the fact that it's reuseable for years and years. No more putting anything in the bin!!! This product has ALSO shortened my 7-8 day cycle by at least a day and a half!! I am going to buy these for EVERYONE (my friend, her daughters, my sister, my mom)!! I can't spread the word enough! Thank you so much!!"

Chastity

"I bought a Mooncup as an alternative to unenvironmentally friendly tampons and I have to say that I am delighted. Never again would I used anything else, why would I when it's so comfortable that you can forget you're having a period? Thank you for an amazing product which I talk about at every suitable opportunity!"

Ellie

"I think its brill I am free. Its like i only have a one day period (due to cramps and large clots) which is ace. Also there is no smell!!!! Always a bonus. I do still wear a panti-liner though. I even purchased one for my now 14 year old daughter. We have been happy users for 2 years and i will never go back to what it used to be like. Thank you"

marie

"I've been using the moon cup for several years now, I absolutly love it and would never consider returning to other products. I have a very heavy flow the first few days of my period, before I was going through several jumbo tampons a day and I had to wear a panty liner as well to keep from leaking. Now, I can just check it every few hours, and later when it's mostly just spotting left, it doesn't interupt my life at all anymore. It's amazing. In fact, my mooncup recently met an untimely demise and first thing I did when I realized was think 'thank god I just had my period' followed by 'I have to log on RIGHT NOW and get the replacement on the way!' I didn't even think twice about spending the money again. Over all, it really saves you so much. Plus you and or your spouse never has to have that awkward checkout moment again!"

Mahala S.

"I am so happy with my mooncup - I was quite nervous about using it at first but I am finding it much easier than using tampons and much more discreet than wads of sanitary towels! The main reason I switched to Mooncup was for environmental reasons, and each time I empty it - much less than changing a tampon! - it reminds me just how much pollution is caused by chucking disposable sanpro away. Because the Mooncup holds more liquid too, I find it much more convenient when going out and I'm sure it will be a godsend on holiday too. Thank you Mooncup! I just wish I'd found it sooner!! "

Lisa Jackson

"Hi, Just thought I'd let you know that I've now had the opportunity to try my new mooncup. What a revalation! Frankly, I'm dissapointed with myself for not doing this earlier. They're the best thing ever. I couldn't be happier with it. And have told absolutely everyone (men included) about this wondrous thing! Thank you so much, I am truly delighted with it. "

Alison

"Hi there. I'm using my Mooncup for only the second time and have got the hang of it already! What a fantastic product. I'm telling all my friends about it. Three cheers for you guys for coming up with it. I use washable nappies instead of disposables for my baby, and now that I don't need tampons I really feel like i'm doing my bit to reduce waste. Thanks again."

Jo

"I Love my mooncup so much. it's so comfy i don't feel like i'm having my period. I can go swimming and wear what i want. I wish i had one from the start when i was a teenager. I didn't find out about the mooncup until i was 31, and feel so cheated!! i was worried that i'd be ok wearing a mooncup after having 4 really large babies born vaginally, but my mooncup is fits perfectly and never leaks. My husband also thinks the £5 a month saved on the price of tampons is great too! "

jilly

"I was sceptical I have very heavy periods for the 1st 3 days then light then a bit of a heavy bleed at the end I was buying 5 different types of pad night time, super, normal long and a complete which is like a light towel/panty liner I have to were white trousers at work so I always worried about leaks as they show immediately The 1st day I used the mooncup I also wore a pad as well however I was amazed no leakage and easy to use it got like second nature after a couple of times I cut the stem off altogether after about 2 days it will pay for itself in less than 6 months and no more getting rid of used towels I really am impressed "

jan phillips

"This is my second month of using it and I love it. I was a bit concerned about how easy it would be to insert and remove, but after the first few trys had no problems at all. The convenience is great, as I can go 8 hours with out needing to empty it even on my heaviest days. I'm so happy to be released from tampons, leaks and fear of TSS. THANKYOU MOONCUP!!"

Julia

"The thing that people never mention about tampons is that you can't just wear a tampon. They're designed so they just leak all the way through, and they do, so you have to wear a panty-liner at the same time just in case your flow is heavier that expected, so then you have all the problems of both products at the same time. I used to be so sick of it, and the amounts of rubbish I was producing every month really upset me. I would recommend the mooncup because it doesn't leak. Never mind getting special panty-liners the exact same shape of your thong, you don’t need to wear a panty-liner at all with at the same time as wearing a mooncup. You can just be comfortable. Best of all the mooncup just collects you menstrual blood rather than absorbing it so it doesn’t expand in size the longer you leave it in. That expanding increases pressure in your abdominal cavity (just like needing the toilet does) and contributes to period pain. My period pain has been a lot better since using my mooncup. I can’t believe that there are adverts on TV now for scented tampons, it’s the worst thing I’ve ever heard. As if tampons weren’t bad enough for you already. The world should acknowledge that what women really want and need is something simple, clean and naturally good for you. Everyone needs the mooncup!"

Katie

"I first heard about the mooncup a couple of years ago, and I have to say was a bit squemish about it. I never used to get on with tampons that well, mainly due to dryness and soreness of holding it in for some reason, but I've had no problems with the mooncup. Then one of my friends told me about hers which got me thinking, but it took my best friend buying one before I took the plunge a couple of days later. I have to say it is one of the best things I have ever bought. After finally getting the stem length right, and a few attempts of insertion and removal, I'm finding it so easy to use. I'm particularly suprised at how you don't need to be squemish about it, the outside of the cup stays clean and it's really not messy at all. Thank-you so much, I love it, can't wait to spread the word!"

Holly

"Thank you thank you thank you for this wonderful product! I used to have terrible cramps and dread my period, but now the cramps have gone (minus the first day) and enjoy this part of my feminity and womanhood. Also, the Mooncup has completely eliminated recurring yeast and bacterial infections! I am absolutely thrilled with this product and tell everyone! THANK YOU!"

Danielle

"I had to contact you to congratulate you on this fabulous invention! I have never felt so clean whilst having my period! No leakage, no mess and no fuss! Since having my son, my periods have been so heavy I have had change tampons every 1-2 hours, even the type designed for heavy flows. Not only was it expensive but I was starting to feel like there was something wrong with me. No longer! I can see exactly how much I am losing-and its not nearly so bad as I thought! I finally feel as though I am in control of my period instead of them taking over! Absolutely brilliant, I cannot thank you enough! "

Melanie

"This has changed my life! Gooooo mooncup!!!!! xxx"

Nicky P

"Just like so many of the women on this page, I am totally delighted with the Mooncup. As a natural-health fan (I am a McTimoney Chiropractor) I have always felt tampons were somehow wrong. My body felt invaded and vaguely uncomfortable. The Mooncup is wonderful - I don't even know it's there. Unlike tampons it's not leaching chemicals into my body. I also know it won't leak, so when I'm busy with patients and can't quickly pop to the loo, I know all is well. I will be promoting the Mooncup to my patients - for the sake of their health they all need to know. Thank you! "

Catherine

"I bought the mooncup when I decided to go to East Africa for a year and was worried about dealing with tampons where waste disposal is simply burning the rubbish in the backyard. The first time I used the mooncup wasn't easy - I found it painful to put in and hard to get out! However from the second time on it has been absolutely fine - I think the position of squatting on a long-drop toilet (big cement pit with small opening) is actually the easiest, but it's been fine since I got back to Western toilets too. It's really easy to take a bottle of water round with you to wash it out when there are no taps available. the benefits are obvious but I'll highlight a few - firstly you don't have to take anything with you to the toilet, which is great if you are forgetful or shy. Secondly you don't have to change it as much as a tampon because it holds a larger volume of blood. Thirdly it's fascinating to see the difference in volume over the different days of your period! Fourthly everything stays very moist down there - I used to get so dry after a few days that I would have to switch to towels. And fifthly, this is a BIG contribution to treading more softly on our environment (when other things that you might try and do have a small impact) I recommend the mooncup and don't give up if the first time was a bit painful!"

"I tentatively tried the mooncup as my periods were getting progressively more uncomfortable, only survivable by popping painkillers religiously eve
