Team Information
Cathy Marchand
Nurse Advisor & Research Officer
I joined the Mooncup team in January 2006, bringing my 26-years’ of nursing experience and research skills to the organisation. I have especially enjoyed and chosen to work in womens’ health, and have nursed mainly in the U.K, but abroad too. I developed my research skills in anthropology, and have studied medical anthropology most recently. This has proved very valuable, as the advice role means dealing with many different questions and perspectives on menstrual health, it keeps me on my toes!
I live in Brighton with my partner and two children, and we are very involved in our local community. We gave up our car two years ago and have a “family” tandem, which takes us shopping and on outings! My family is vegetarian and we lead as ethical a lifestyle as possible. Our most recent project has been setting up a community garden in an old dis-used petrol station site near us in Brighton! I love working for Mooncup, as the role brings together all my skills and beliefs in making a more sustainable future for our planet.

Administration Manager
I have been working at Mooncup since January 2004 during which time I've managed to have a go at most things that go on around here. Its certainly been a learning curve but also a true joy to watch the company grow from 3-4 women sharing desks and computers in Su's bedroom to a multi award winning business. Nowadays a bigger team allows me to focus on the wholesale/trade side of the business. I also coordinate the translation of our packaging and various publications into different languages for which my degree in German and Italian comes in useful.
After university I travelled extensively in 5 continents funded by various casual jobs but there was a growing need for something into which I could channel my passion for environmental issues and desire for a better world. The opportunity to work for Mooncup came along just at the right time.
Outside of work I enjoy listening to music, dancing, running, cycling, yoga, walking in the countryside, dreaming about faraway places and spending time with my wonderful partner and community of friends. I love anything to do with food - from growing organic veg with my fellow New Rooters on our cooperative allotment here in Brighton to cooking and eating yummy vegan meals.

Sales Coordinator
I’m the Sales Coordinator for Mooncup, and it’s my job to keep our distributors happy. I also maintain the website, and – because of the cooperative nature of the company – am involved to varying degrees in pretty much everything else!
After ‘discovering’ the Mooncup in 2006 and thinking what a brilliant, simple product it was, a job with the company came up six months later and I’ve never looked back! I’m an International Relations graduate, with a background in fashion retail and the charity sector. I’m passionate about ethical and environmental issues and how they can be implemented practically - I’m a great believer in making it easy for people to make better choices – which is why working for Mooncup appealed so much.
I live in Brighton and have a beautiful commute to work along the seafront every day. I sing in a choir and a band, am learning kung-fu and spend most of the rest of the time in the pub or out dancing with my friends!

Dispatch Manager
I have been the dispatch manager at Mooncup for nearly three years, having joined the team after a history of working for small independent businesses. Working with my hands and being creative is an important part of my life and I am usually wandering around the office with a screwdriver, trying to fix things. I became interested in environmental issues whilst studying a degree in ceramics and silver smithing, which I continue to pursue in my spare time. I live with my husband and cat, who thinks she’s a dog, in Brighton.

Nurse Advisor
I joined the Mooncup team in January 2009, working alongside Cathy at the Mooncup Advice desk. I am a Registered Nurse, and gained three years Nurse Advising experience, after leaving the NHS where I was an intensive care nurse. I took a break from nursing after the birth of my second child, and returned to nursing as a home carer, and also worked at a pre-school nursery. I love long walks with the dog over the South Downs, come rain or shine, and I try to be as environmentally conscious as I can (hence the job appealed to me), and have been vegetarian for 20 years. I live at home with my partner, my two children and the dog!

PR and Campaigns Manager
Hello- I’m Kath. I’ve been working with the team on the PR and marketing for Mooncup for over 4 years now- from booking the festivals and exhibitions to chatting with journalists. If you see, say, a Mooncup ad on the tube, you can pat me on the back for that next time you catch me working the stall at a festival! I also work behind the scenes with schemes in developing countries ensuring that local women’s real best interests are kept at heart throughout.
As the single mum of a 7 year old boy, I work 24 hours a week at Mooncup. It’s great to be part of a business that understands the realities of juggling work and an often hectic life. I’ve had quite a few different jobs before this: I’ve been a fundraiser, charity worker, event organizer and ‘marketeer’, children’s workshop facilitator and managed a thriving multi-screen independent cinema. I love a challenge – which life has tended to chuck at me… I’m beginning to think that easy living may be a wiser aspiration these days, though!
When I’m not at work, I’ve got an excellent community of friends and love socialising. I’m curbing a lifelong traveling habit though I still dart off in my converted Ford transit given the chance, love reading and learning new things, am getting into medical herbalism; general foraging and making; and shaking it all about in Nia classes.

Office Assistant
I’m the new Office Assistant and have been part of the team since May 2009. I take calls, reply to enquiries and generally help out where needed.
Before Mooncup I worked for an Environmental Consultancy Company as Production Manager but decided to take a year out to travel around Europe and South America (during which my Mooncup was very useful!). I live with my boyfriend and our cat in Brighton. In my spare time I like to socialise, do paintings on silk and am trying to teach myself French.

Managing Director
Hello my name is Su and I started Mooncup in my bedroom in Brighton about 8 Years ago. In the early days it was just me stickering toilet doors around town, or printing all the packaging and the usage guides on my little printer at home, and then setting off down to the local Post Office with a few envelopes in my wicker basket. Nowadays I have a lovely team of wonderful women working alongside me, and Royal Mail come to collect from us!
Mooncup has moved out of my house and I now live in a village on the edge of Brighton with my husband Paul, our teenage daughter Eve, Polo the dog, Poppy the cat and Ebony the bunny. Polo and I walk to work across the South Downs most mornings, the perfect way to start the day, and it's great having a lovable labrador hanging out in the office too. When I get a bit of time to myself I prefer to be outside pottering about in the garden, weather permitting. Otherwise I am happy curled up in front of the fire with a good book. Although I'm not big on regular commitments outside work, I've just joined a choir on a Wednesday evening which is a bit outside my comfort zone, but actually quite good fun!

Emmanuelle and Loretta
Loretta - "I came across the mooncup when I was 14 years old and found it to be by far better than any other form of sanitary protection. Since a child, I have been passionate about being green, so not only was I thrilled to find the mooncup was reuable and eco friendly, but also that it's a lot less hassle to use.
At 17 I began casual 'modelling,' meeting photographers through my Uncle who works freelance in his spare time. As a musical theatre student this seemed a great opportunity to develop a character portfolio, with dance shots as well. After receiving images from my first little photoshoot I felt ambitious and mentioned to my mother how fabulous it would be if I was able to promote ethical, eco-friendly products such as the mooncup. I had joined the Mooncup page on facebook and by chance a few months later discovered they were searching for a new face for their company. With nothing to lose I applied and feel incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity that was given to me. Travelling to Brighton for the shoot, being introduced to the Mooncup team and model Emmanuelle, collaborating with them, staying in a vegetarian B&B by the sea, having a tour of the town on a tandem, every moment was a gift that I cherish. For my first ever promo experience, it couldn't have been better. I just can't thank Mooncup enough and I'm glad I could help!"
