I bought a mooncup a while ago after reading an article explaining the effects of tampons being flushed down the toilet and into the sea. I was shocked, and quite disgusted, so I followed the link for buying a mooncup, and I have never regretted it. Being a teenager, of 15, I am probably one in a hundred who actually realises that there are other methods out there and I can thoroughly say that the mooncup has changed my life. It really does give you the freedom to do what you like when you are on your period, and because of the material its made from its great to use even at the end of your period, when I used to resort to sanitary towels as tampons hurt too much. I very rarely get cramps with the mooncup but I used to get them all the time with tampons. The advice I can give to teenage girls in my position who are considering a mooncup is go for it! Don't be afraid just because you have to insert it yourself, I mean its just another part of your body, oh and make sure you trim the stem enough (I find I only need the stump to remove it). Finally, I would like to say thank you to the creators of the mooncup as I can't imagine having to go back to life before I found it... (and the extra money I get from not buying tampons is a big boost as well)

I was so excited when I ordered your mooncup. I have wanted one since I heard about them a couple of years ago. I am only 19 so I was a little bit nervous about being able to put it in and take it out. It took a couple of tries, but I am so amazed at how wonderfully it works! It feels so good not to be sticking gross wads of cotton inside of me anymore! Not to mention how grateful the landfills are! Thank you so much for this fantastic way to embrace being a woman and stop harming our bodies and our planet. I recommend the mooncup to everyone I know!

I started using mooncup for purely environmental reasons and was really hoping it wouldn't be too much of a hassle. I was so pleased to find out that it is amazing and has so many other benefits!! Granted it did take a little while to get used too and i did keep having to cut the stem down but 2 periods later and i have perfected the technique. I am looking forward to taking it travelling with me and using all that extra space for more clothes instead! Just not sure what to do with the box of tampons and towels i have in the cupboard now!!

I bought my Mooncup because I wanted to be more environmentally friendly but thought it was going to be a real penance. I've been using mine for six months now, with no problems - definitely the easiest and most women-friendly sanitary protection method I've used and I would not go back to tampons and towels. For any women who think the idea is a bit 'yukky', I would say try it for a month and then I promise you all other methods will seem yukky, but this won't. I travel a lot for work and this is the easiest and cleanest method (also very useful in older buldings when the loo is a bit temperamental, because you're only flushing away a small amount of liquid, so no problem). The only complaint I would make is how come more women don't know about this????? I know you don't have the advertising budget of the companies who have been fleecing us on 'disposable' products, but please push your profile; it is a well designed, money saving environmentally friendly, woman friendly product - what's not to like?

Loving your work- Mooncup is an absolute revelation- it has totally enhanced my life and having a period is no longer a big deal, which is how it should be! I really would advocate it to all women, especially those who care about the environment and our oceans- it's a massive positive change all women could do! And think of the bonus of saving all that money to spend on far more interesting things! Be sustainable and smart ladies- don't knock it until you've tried it! It would be great if they were more accessible here in New Zealand to spread the word more!

I have been using a mooncup for a few years now and have had to change size now I have welcomed my first baby into the world. Again, no problems with the new size, I just can't imagine life without my mooncup and am currently spreading the word in my mothers group! We have many mums who are very environmentally conscious and use cloth nappies (as I do) and they are really fascinated with the idea of the mooncup. I never regret my purchase of a mooncup and couldn't reccomend them more.

I first started using the mooncup three years ago, when I bought my first one in a small green/health/wholefood store. It's so good though, I wish I'd started much earlier - for ages I'd seen the sticker on the door of the loos in Cambridge train station (the one on the left, if I remember correctly), but just hadn't got round to checking it out.
My motivation at the time for buying it was environmental - it's entirely unsustainable to be using lots of disposable sanitary products every month, and I don't fancy eating fish that have been feasting on used tampons.
But besides that, I really like the fact that I don't have to change it as much as you do tampons, it's easy to transport and no more worries about finding a place to buy them in an unfamiliar location.
One word of caution, though. I did have a minor mishap with my first mooncup - while sterilising it, I forgot to put the timer on, and predictably, burnt the pan dry and it went all brittle and cracked. Not good. No choice but to buy a replacement, but since then I've not looked back!
Maybe we can get a mooncup lady to replace the tampon ladies that visit schools to promote a certain well-known tampon brand?

The most important for me in using Mooncup is that it's way better for the environment. Sure it's very comfortable and all. It's a pity I didn't use it before for I heard of it first time 5 years ago, such a waste. But I know better now!

I have been using my mooncup for about 6 months now and cannot express enough just how much I love it! I have told many friends about it and I really hope they take the plunge and give it a go. I love the fact that I am no longer contributing to horrible sanitary products in landfill sites and the sea and that I don't have to pay exorbitant prices every month for disposable products. I also feel cleaner and that my periods aren't an issue anymore. I have milder PMT than I've had for years, less cramps, shorter periods and generally feel better than I ever used to during a period. I trimmed the stem down to almost nothing and have no problems removing the cup - I just make sure I remove it over the toilet bowl so that nothing spills on the floor. I also carry wipes around with me to wipe my hands if out in public. I just wish I had known about the Mooncup years ago instead of reading about it on a tube ad months ago. I urge anyone who is having doubts to give it a go, you won't regret it!!

I have waited until my third period to give this review of my new mooncup. The first time I tried it I found it pretty tricky; in fact for one day of my cycle I went back to tampons because I was fed up of the hassle. Anyway, I persevered and am so glad I did. All of the initial discomfort of the first time around had gone by my second period. When I wear my mooncup I can't feel it at all, it is as if I'm not on my period. I love that it's environmentally friendly as I don't have 'tampon guilt' anymore. I also love that I don't have to worry about leaving it in too long or TSS. I've never had problems with a heavy period or bad cramp, so when I first read these testimonials I wasn't sure that a mooncup would be an improvement for me personally. But, amazingly, I didn't realise what a hassle tampons were till I stopped using them. To anyone in doubt: please give this a go, the likelihood is you won't regret it.

I'd just like to say how pleased I am with my mooncup. This is the first period I have used it for and the only problem I can see with it is I keep forgetting its there! One of the reasons I decided to try it was to save damage to the environment, but I also thought it would be a good for when I am travelling. No more lugging bags of tampons etc, round in your rucksack. No more trying to find somewhere that actually stocks tampons if you are in certain countries or off the beaten track and no pollution to the countries you are visiting either. Its great!
Jayne -
Saves money! Never get caught without, when you forget to stock up on tampons/towels! Easy to use, comes with a cute little pouch, so you can keep in your bag when you go out. Doesn't leak like tampons did. I now have more space in my bathroom cabinet! Holds itself very well in place. Fab product! Wish I found it years ago! I don't think I will ever go back to the old way of having a period! May even buy a pair of white trousers! Thanks! xx

I switched to mooncup for the same reasons I believe most people do: environmental concern. I had been worried about the effect of tampons for some time, but knew of no alternatives.
I discovered mooncups on the internet one day and ordered one immediately.
It's fantastic. Very easy to use, I got the hang of getting in and out with no trouble after just a couple of tries. It's very clean, less messy than tampons, and very confortable. I fell much more confident exercising when I have my period.
I have no regrets about the purchase of my mooncup: it's cleaner, cheaper and better of the environment... Go fot it!

My Mooncup arrived at the same day as my monthlies! I was so happy to see that you've sent it without unnecessary outer packaging (even though it was sent from one country to another) and it was delivered by daily mail. I expected the usual big package for a tiny thing-posting delivered via some logistics company.
It is really great to see that every detail of your company is so thoughtfully sustainable. From the ink on your flyers to the (wonderfull) Mooncup. Thanks a lot. And keep going.

I am so happy with my mooncup - I was quite nervous about using it at first but I am finding it much easier than using tampons and much more discreet than wads of sanitary towels! The main reason I switched to Mooncup was for environmental reasons, and each time I empty it - much less than changing a tampon! - it reminds me just how much pollution is caused by chucking disposable sanpro away. Because the Mooncup holds more liquid too, I find it much more convenient when going out and I'm sure it will be a godsend on holiday too. Thank you Mooncup! I just wish I'd found it sooner!!

I've been using my mooncup for a year now and I honestly wouldn't go back to anything else. It takes a little bit to get the hang of using it but once you get the knack it's amazing. I've found (for some reason) I don't get as much period pain, thrush or soreness. To be a bit rude my sex life has improved too as I no longer take a week or longer to recover from the damage that tampons were doing to me. I'd recommend mooncups to anyone.
Beca -
It really works, it's cheap and environmental. I recommend the Mooncup. I think it shortens your period too.
Sarah -
Once I used the Mooncup I found my menstrual cramps stopped. I no longer leaked and had to make midnight changes to bedding. The bins were no longer overflowing with smelly, tell tale signs of a period.
I nolonger dread my period - I wont lie and say I love it - but it is just another monthly event rather than a challenge. It has the added benefit of being eccologically friendly - as opposed to the smelly packages destined for landfill!
Helen - 24th July 2010
I've been using the mooncup for 2 months and its great basically because it doesn't pollute the environment and its very cost effective in relation to other products. It does also make for an easier period and generally a more enjoyable one. Its comfortable to wear and I find I change it much less often than tampons, in fact its easy to forget its there.
Wendy -
I finally feel as though I have found a product that helps me celebrate my monthly cycle rather than treating it as a 'curse'. Its great to see just how much blood there is and to feel a sense of connection with my body's natural function. I'm also feeling very virtuous about the great benefit to the environment and am extremely happy not to be contributing to pollution any longer. Thanks for this enlightened approach to female health care. Can't praise it enough!

to the poster below- morgan- what is your problem? Do you have a mooncup? Well I have and its fantastic! I am certainly not fake- I'm, a 32 yr old nurse from chester with a mooncup. Ignore that silly woman- mooncups are great- economic, eco friendly and better for your sensitive bits! great work mooncup.
lizzie - 30th January 2010
I have been using the mooncup now for 2 years and have to be honest I was sceptical at first but now think its the best invention for women yet. It have saved me money, time and even eased my cramps. I only wished I would have used it earlier in my life. I am a very active person and find that I do not have to worry about anything when I am using my mooncup. Its easy and envronmentally friendly which is a big must nowadays.
Lee - 20th May 2010
I took to the Mooncup on first use and absolutely love it. It is so much more comfortable and easy to forget. It makes me feel much more in harmony and control of the process. It is really good to know you are not adding to sea pollution, landfill or putting toxins in your body. Hooray, hooray! Forget all the worries about them being weird, disgusting, uncomfortable, expensive etc. they are great and well worth the initial pay out - never look back.
Harriet -
i have heard about the mooncup a while now but since moving to spain and the area we live in (not good for flushing toilet paper or tampons) i got my sister to send me one and i have used it for the first time, i got with it straight away no problems at all very comfy not at all a pain like tampons are, really easy to clean and i am very happy it will save me money and the environment thumbs up 10 out of 10 should be advertised lots and get every women using one,

I came across the Mooncup on a travel website and decided to use it for environmental reasons. At first I still used a liner with it becasue I wasnt 100% confident, then I went off it for a few months now I use it alone with confidence with every period. I've had a hard time convincing some of my more conventional friends to use it but I still tell every girlfriend about it. The purchase was easy and quick and I look forward to seeing them on the shelf in shops in Austrlaia before too long. Thanks

Today is my first day with the Mooncup! I'm 19 and just figured I'd give it a go. I was pretty taken with its economical and ecological benefits. I'm really liking it so far. Took me a while to get it in properly (about half an hour) but once in it was fine.
I was worried about it somehow getting back out, so I danced and cartwheeled around my room and it's stayed in, so I'm confident about it now. :) It's really comfortable, which is always a plus, so I'm happy with it. Definitely worth the money, especially when I think of the money I'll save in the long run. Ahh.
Now all I have to do is recommend it to as many people as possible! Thank you, Mooncup! :D

What a fabulous idea! Why didn't I know about this years ago? I have always hated the dreaded tampons especially with very light periods I was always concernred about using the correct absorbancy. Now I need wory no more and its nice to think I won't be responsible for nasty floating things in the sea too!
Becks -
Couldn't be more happier or impressed. I feel good that I'm not producing so much waste with pads or tampons anymore and no longer have to discretely shop for them either! More comfortable then a tampon in every way. Putting the Mooncup in at first was a bit awkward but really easy to get the hang of. I'm not one to handle blood very well but the Mooncup keeps it nicely contained so cleaning it doesn't bother my stomach either. It was a very good decision to get rid myself of bleached products and do better for myself and the Earth.
Katelyn - 20th July 2010
I originally got my mooncup to reduce the wastage of using tampons, but I am delighted with it. I find it takes so much hassle out of having a period, you don't have to worry about running out of tampons because it is always there, you save a fortune, and I find it is more reliable and secure than tampons, I've used the cup for about 6 months and have had no problems with it whatsoever. It is comfortable, and you can continue to use it on really light days when usually you probably wouldn't want a tampon but don't feel quite safe enough to go without either. I cannot recommend this product more highly, for something so small it has made a big change to my life when I have my period, and if it hasn't won any awards for design it absolutely should. I know some people are put off because they are squeamish but if you are considering a mooncup you shouldn't be put off, just go for it because I don't think anyone could regret it
Sallie -
I bought a Mooncup as I became more environmentally aware of wastage, and also because of continual disappointment from regular tampons. I would definitely recommend this product to my friends and I use it whilst I am travelling. Better for me, better for the environment, I think it is all in all a win win product.
amy - 27th May 2010
I had hesitated for some time before i bought the mooncup, i've used tampons from age 14 and it seemed a big change to try something new and so different. I am concerned about our impact on the environment and the amount of sanitary products we dispose of, so that was my main reason for trying the mooncup. On that point alone i feel so much better for switching but all the other benefits that come with it that i never even considered have really impressed me. The money i am saving each month for instance, not having to carry around a make up bag full of tampons, not feeling plugged up, it feels so much more natural and comfortable to wear the mooncup than a tampon. If you are hesitating over the mooncup as i was, just try it. It's actually very soft, pliable and comfortable to use and you just empty it into the loo, rinse under a tap or wipe and re-fit. I won't go back to tampons, ever.
